leather now
For SS28, leather is showing more of itself. Natural grain, pores, creases and shifts in tone remain visible, giving surfaces a richer, less uniform appearance. What was once corrected or covered is increasingly treated as part of the material’s identity.
Transparent dyes and low-coverage finishes allow the surface to stay open and readable. Colour settles differently across the hide, highlighting depth and natural variation rather than flattening them. The result is leather with a stronger visual presence, where each piece carries subtle differences in tone, texture and finish.
This approach also changes the way leather is handled. Soft constructions, generous folds and rounded volumes emphasise flexibility, while firmer qualities bring structure and weight. The material is allowed to crease, soften and develop a patina, making time and use part of its character rather than something to conceal.
Across fashion and interiors, this points to a quieter and more tactile idea of luxury. Material character becomes more important than flawless finish, with craftsmanship focused on revealing rather than correcting the surface. Grain, irregularity, softness and patina become active design elements, giving garments and objects a more individual presence.
Leather feels less processed, more physical and more personal — its value increasingly lies in what makes each surface different.
